Tribunal Adjourns To Thursday  To Examine Adebutu 98-Page Document

    Fawaz Adebisi

The Ogun State Election Petition  Tribunal on Tuesday, fixed Thursday, July 6, for it’s next  sitting over a petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, All Progressives Congress, APC, and the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, for allegedly rigging the  March 18 governorship election.

The tribunal made this decision after Adebutu’s counsel, Goddy Uche tendered a 98-page schedule of document containing over 8,000 documents from INEC, BVAS among others, which was filed on the 3rd of July, according to him.

Recall that Adebutu was expected to call no fewer than 263 witnesses as proceedings resumed Tuesday.

Also, he was expected to tender over 60 different categories of documents to prove his claims that irregularities marred the Ogun election.

However, according to the court, the counsel to the petitioner was supposed to have given his opposition parties opportunity to cross check the documents, in case of raising objections, before tendering it before the court.

The court had earlier given directives to all counsels to  agree and cross examine all documents before the next sitting.

It therefore adjourned the sitting to the 6th of July, 2023 for further proceedings .
