Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien on his 99th birth anniversary.

Oborevwori in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba on Friday, said that Obi Chike Edozien is a distinguished medical scholar and Nigeria’s first Professor of Physiology.

He remarked that since his ascension to the throne in 1991 as the 13th Asagba of Asaba, Obi Edozien had continued to provide purposeful leadership for his people and residents of Asaba, the State capital.

Oborevwori said that under the monarch’s reign, Asaba has since become one of the fastest growing cities in the Country in terms of population and development in infrastructure.

He lauded the respected monarch for his astute contributions to making Asaba comfortable and hospitable for Nigerians, who troop into the Delta State capital for one business or the other.

He said that at 99, Obi Professor Chike Edozien, deserves to be celebrated for attaining such an enviable and impactful age.

He joined the royal family and entire people of Asaba at home and in the diaspora in felicitating the centenarian monarch on the landmark in his journey of life, and affirmed that the Asagba remained an “iconic scholar per excellence, bridge-builder and oldest living Professor in any discipline”.

Oborevwori prayed that God would continue to bless the Royal father with great wisdom, good health and strength to continue to lead the people of his kingdom.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I joyfully celebrate with His Royal Majesty, Obi Professor Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, the Asagba of Asaba on the occasion of his 99th birth anniversary.

“As we look forward to the centenary celebration, we pray that the Almighty God will continue to grant you more wisdom and divine health to continue serving mankind,” Oborevwori stated.
