NAHCON Sets Tentative Fee Of N4.5 Million For 2024 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has instructed state Muslim pilgrims’ welfare boards to commence preparations for the 2024 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

In response, NAHCON has established a tentative fare of N4.5 million per slot for the pilgrimage and directed the affected boards to start collecting deposits from prospective pilgrims within their respective states.

Saudi Arabia authorities have already allocated 95,000 slots to Nigeria for the upcoming year’s pilgrimage, with 71,000 seats distributed among the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the Nigeria Armed Forces.

The directive was issued by NAHCON Chairman, Zikrullah Hassan, during a meeting with the chairmen and executive secretaries of the boards in Abuja.

Hassan acknowledged that the cost of the 2024 hajj would be relatively high due to the current Naira to dollar exchange rate.

He also pointed out that the Federal Government’s unification of foreign exchange rates might significantly impact the overall cost.

He stated, “I must tell you that next year’s hajj is going to be expensive. This is something we must prepare for, starting from today. I am not saying we will be able to determine the exact cost today, but what we must be prepared for is that the hajj is going to be expensive.”
