Wema Bank has set the stage for a groundbreaking event with the announcement of the Hackaholics Digital Summit, a gathering that promises to unite Africa’s trailblazers, disruptors, regulators, policymakers, investors, and digital enthusiasts.
The bank revealed this exciting development in a statement released on Wednesday, underscoring its commitment to driving tech and innovation not only in Nigeria but throughout the African continent.
Themed ‘Re-Imagine: Disrupting the Ecosystem for Scale,’ the Hackaholics Digital Summit is slated to take place in Lagos this coming October.
The event will not only kickstart with the grand launch of the summit but also culminate in the spectacular Hackaholics 4.0 competition finale.
This contest will feature standout teams, showcasing their groundbreaking innovations and vying for the coveted title of Hackaholics 4.0 winners.
In a remarkable show of support for innovation, the winning team will be rewarded with prizes worth N10 million, with the first runner-up receiving N7 million in prizes, and the second runner-up walking away with N5 million worth of rewards.
Furthermore, a special N3 million grant is exclusively reserved for a female-led team, while a generous N15 million grant will be allocated to University STEM endowment.
The Hackaholics Digital Summit promises a wealth of knowledge with its master classes, where attendees will have the privilege of witnessing the emergence of Africa’s technological future and gaining invaluable insights from renowned experts.
Topics covered in these master classes include ‘The Future of Financial Services,’ ‘Venture Capital and Funding Viable Innovation for Scale,’ and ‘Strategic Technology for Impact & Societal Change: Transforming Today & Tomorrow’s World.’
Wema Bank initially introduced Hackaholics in 2019 as an initiative aimed at nurturing youth and startups, offering a platform for entrepreneurs and innovators to bring their tech-driven concepts to life and refine their skills.
The fourth edition of Hackaholics, launched in April 2023, embarked on a months-long journey to top Nigerian universities, identifying and nurturing talented students with creative ideas.
These students were given the opportunity to collaborate, enhance their skills, and turn their unique concepts into reality through technology.
