Former Ogun State chairman and national Public Relations Officers  of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Dr. Tola Adenekan, has called upon the newly elected leadership to be proactive and innovative in tackling the various challenges facing the youth in the state.

Dr. Adenekan stated this In an  address delivered during the 2023 elective Congress held at the Valley View Auditorium, Government House in Oke-igbeyin Abeokuta.

He  emphasized the need for the Youth Council to be recognized by the solutions it provides to the problems confronting young people in the  State.

He listed these problems as including unemployment, drug abuse, human trafficking, violence against persons, cybercrime (yahooism), kidnapping, and banditry, among others.

Dr. Adenekan’s address aimed to inspire the incoming leadership to prioritize addressing these pressing issues.

Furthermore, Dr. Adenekan commended the Ogun State governor for establishing the Ministry of Youth Affairs and urged the Youth Council leadership to be strategic and forward-thinking.

He encouraged them to generate innovative ideas and proposals that would enhance the effectiveness of the Youth Ministry in delivering quality services to the youth of the state.

In his message, Dr. Adenekan also took the opportunity to applaud the outgoing leadership of the Youth Council for their commendable work in advancing youth development over the past four years.

The 2023 elective Congress, which took place on the 28th of October, attracted prominent figures including the National President of the National Youth Council, Com.

Sokubo, the Commissioner for Youth in Osun State, Mr. Olagunju, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Sport, Mr. Isiaka, who represented Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the commitment of various stakeholders to addressing youth issues in the state.

This call for proactive and innovative leadership sets the stage for the new leaders of the NYCN in Ogun State to tackle the pressing problems facing the youth population, and it is expected that they will rise to the occasion and work towards making a positive impact on the lives of young people in the state.
