The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), recently conducted the matriculation ceremony for 223 students enrolled in the Part-Time Degree Programme (PTDP) for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.
The event, which took place at the university premises, marked the official induction of the students into the academic community.
Addressing the matriculating students, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated them on becoming bonafide members of the university and emphasized the commitment to providing them with a quality education.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, Prof. Kehinde urged the students to strive for excellence and to believe in themselves while seeking divine guidance for success in their academic pursuits.
Highlighting the recent National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Team’s visit, Prof. Kehinde announced that FUNAAB had achieved over 90% full accreditation for its programmes.
He encouraged the matriculated students to familiarize themselves with the university’s rules and regulations, emphasizing the importance of strict compliance to avoid sanctions.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed the university’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful campus and fostering a disciplined academic and social environment.
He warned against miscreants and academic pretenders, stating that such individuals would not be tolerated.
In addition, Prof. Kehinde cautioned students against vandalization of university property and urged them to take responsibility for maintaining a conducive academic environment. He advised them to prioritize their health by registering at the University Health Centre.
The ceremony was attended by key university officials, including the representative of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olajide Sogunle; Acting Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; representative of the University Librarian, Dr. Sarah Adegbaye; Coordinator, Part-Time Degree Programme, Dr. Adeyinka Aladesida, and other top officers.
The matriculation ceremony served as a platform for the university administration to admit, advise, and caution students on ethical issues, fostering a conducive environment for academic success, and nurturing them to become responsible citizens.
