Tragedy Strikes As Woman Stabs Male Friend Over Sexual Demand In Port Harcourt

In a shocking turn of events, 26-year-old Sarah Nwankpo finds herself in custody at the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department for the murder of her male friend, Igbodike Anthony, in Port Harcourt.

The fatal incident unfolded during an argument over a demand for more intimacy.

Sarah, a Senior Secondary School 3 drop-out from Ebonyi State, narrated during interrogation that she had sneaked out of her boyfriend’s place to visit the deceased on December 22, 2023.

The altercation escalated after Anthony, who had been persistent in inviting her over, made promises of financial support and a job opportunity.

Despite a seemingly pleasant evening that included shopping and an intimate encounter, the situation took a dark turn when Sarah expressed her intention to leave.

A verbal dispute ensued, leading to physical violence, with Anthony reportedly assaulting Sarah.

In her attempt to defend herself, Sarah revealed that she discovered a dagger attached to a detachable head of a walking cane. In a desperate act, she stabbed Anthony during the altercation.

The struggle continued, and tenants alerted by the commotion intervened, locking Sarah in the apartment until the arrival of the police.

Despite efforts to rush Anthony to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect remained in custody, where family members of the deceased sought answers, and the widow visited the State CID seeking clarification on her husband’s death.

Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, CP Olatunji Disu, emphasized the need for caution and restraint in relationships, stating, “This serves as a reminder that violence is never the answer and can lead to devastating consequences for all parties involved. The investigation into this case is ongoing.”
