In a significant breakthrough, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the military have successfully secured the release of another female Prospective Corps Member (PCM) and the driver of the bus abducted in Zamfara State.
The individuals were kidnapped while en route to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sokoto State last year.
Eddy Megwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, announced on Monday that this recent development brings the total number of Prospective Corps Members already released to five.
The incident dates back to August 17 when eight Prospective Corps Members were kidnapped in Zamfara while travelling from Uyo to Sokoto for national service.
Efforts are persisting to ensure the swift liberation of the remaining three individuals, comprising one female and two males, who are still in captivity, according to Megwa.
In response to the successful rescue operation, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, the Director-General of NYSC, expressed gratitude to the security agents for their untiring efforts.
He emphasized the NYSC Scheme’s unwavering commitment to upholding the welfare of Corps Members at all times.
The collaboration between security forces and the NYSC showcases a collective dedication to the safety and well-being of those serving the nation through the Corps.
This latest development underscores the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in ensuring the security and protection of prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps.
