Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has refuted claims that he is collaborating with politicians, emphasizing his dedication to the Yoruba cause.
Dismissing accusations of collusion with politicians, Igboho emphasized the urgency of reclaiming Yoruba lands from Fulani control, citing instances of violence and displacement in Ekiti State as evidence of the pressing need for action.
He said “It is after we recover our farmlands from Fulani that we will know the next step.”
Igboho reiterated his commitment to defending Yoruba territories and livelihoods.”
He also called for the immediate release of an elderly man, Mr. Popoola Iyiola, who was arrested in Oyo State over clashes involving Fulani residents.
In a press statement issued by Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, addressed to the Commissioner of Police from Ilora, Oyo State, Igboho urged the Nigeria Police Force to release Mr. Iyiola promptly.
The statement cited escalating tensions in the Fiditi area of Ilora, with warnings directed towards Fulani residents to vacate the location.
Expressing urgency, Igboho called upon Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene and urged Nigerian security forces to maintain order.
Igboho, in a recent address to his supporters, reiterated the need for proactive measures to combat Fulani herder attacks in the South-West region.
He called for unity among the people of the South-West to establish a regional security workforce to safeguard their interests.
