DSS Arrests El-Rufai’s Ally, Aisha Galadima, For Social Media Criticism Of Kaduna Governor

A  staunch political associate of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Aisha Galadima, has been apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS).

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Galadima’s arrest stems from her outspoken criticism of Governor Uba Sani on social media platforms, particularly a Facebook post that drew the ire of authorities.

According to reports, DSS operatives descended on Galadima’s residence in Tudun Wada on Sunday afternoon, where she was taken into custody.

Galadima’s vocal dissent against Governor Sani’s policies, prominently displayed on her Facebook page, is believed to have prompted her arrest.

The timing of Galadima’s arrest comes amidst a backdrop of heightened tensions over Governor Uba Sani’s governance style.

Recently, Governor Sani publicly bemoaned the staggering debt burden inherited from the previous administration, citing figures of $587 million, N85 billion, and N115 billion in contractual liabilities.

This revelation underscores the challenges facing the current administration in Kaduna State.

Galadima’s close association with El-Rufai, who held the reins of power in Kaduna for eight years, adds a layer of political complexity to her arrest.

Critics argue that her detention could be construed as a suppressive measure aimed at stifling dissent within the political landscape of Kaduna State.

As the situation unfolds, questions regarding freedom of expression and political dissent continue to loom large over Kaduna’s political arena.

Galadima’s arrest serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between governance and civil liberties in the state.
