    Abiodun Unveils Ogun’s Economic Leap: Flags-off 2024 Trade Fair

    Ogun State Governor,  Dapo Abiodun, has officially inaugurated the 13th Gateway International Trade Fair with a resolute commitment to bolster the state’s infrastructure, aiming to entice more investors.

    Speaking at the M.K.O. International Trade Fair Complex in Abeokuta, under the theme “Achieving Economic Prosperity Through Business Connection, Trade, and Investment,” Abiodun reiterated  his administration’s dedication to bolstering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in collaboration with the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Mines, and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA).

    Highlighting the pivotal role of the forthcoming Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport in revolutionising economic activities, Abiodun positioned it as a cornerstone of the state’s economic renaissance.

    He stressed the importance of Ogun’s economy, citing its remarkable progress under the “ISEYA” mantra, making it a national benchmark for industrialization.

    Abiodun underscored the strategic significance of these infrastructure developments in leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), positioning Ogun not only as Nigeria’s gateway but also as a regional hub.

    Calling upon stakeholders to utilise the Trade Fair platform for showcasing Ogun’s finest products and fostering robust business connections, Abiodun assured continued annual advancements.

    “We are working tirelessly in elevating our state which has made us a national benchmark and a beacon of industrialization considering the 6,000 companies that adorn the length and breadth of Ogun State across the three senatorial districts.

    “This state-of-the-art airport which is embedded in an SAPZ , Afrexim Quality Assurance Centre. This is indeed a new dawn for Ogun State. These infrastructural masterpieces are not merely assets, they are regional catalysts poised to amplify trade not only within our domestic area but expansively into international region,”

    “With these development we are strategically positioned to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) ushering in a new era in which Ogun State is not just the gateway within Nigeria but a regional hub.

    “We are creating a business ecosystem  which reflects our sincerity of purpose  and courageous political will,” Abiodun said.

    The Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, echoed the Fair’s role in fostering networking and partnership, while highlighting initiatives introduced to enhance this year’s exhibition.

    Engr. Mike Akingbade, President of OGUNCCIMA, praised the collaborative efforts of the State government, attributing positive impacts on this year’s Trade Fair.

    Representatives from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ-SEDIN) and the Rwandan government commended Ogun State’s commitment to promoting trade and collaboration.

    Exhibitor,  Mrs. Boluwatife Olatunde lauded the Trade Fair for providing a platform to showcase businesses and forge valuable connections with stakeholders.
