DAILY POST reports that the new commissioner, who resumed duty on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, took over from CP Funsho Adegboye as the 47th commissioner of the command.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Moses Yamu, said that until his new posting, Edwin-Iwo was the Commissioner of Police in charge of intelligence at the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Edwin-Iwo, who hails from Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Port-Harcourt and a Master’s in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and rose through the ranks.

Edwin-Iwo had served as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command and Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Force Headquarters, Abuja, among other appointments.

He was also once the Police PRO in Lagos and Oyo states, and a Divisional Police Officer in Bayelsa State.

The new commissioner, a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, IACP, has attended several tactical and leadership courses within and outside the country.
