    Abeokuta Mourns Loss Of  Grassroot Mobilizer,Women Leader, Iya Londo

    The city of Abeokuta and its surrounding communities are set to bid a final farewell to Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Durojaiye, affectionately known as Iya Londo, a prominent political grassroot mobilizer and leader of various women organizations. 

    The beloved matriarch’s burial ceremonies are scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, and Friday, November 10th, 2023.

    Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Durojaiye’s son, Olamiji Durojaiye, issued a release detailing the arrangements for the ceremonies. 

    He said that the  series of events to honour her memory will begin with a Christian wake-keeping service at Nawir U Deen Grammar School in Obantoko on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, commencing at 5 p.m. 

    This solemn occasion will provide an opportunity for friends, family, and admirers to pay their respects and remember the impactful life of the late leader.

    On the following day, Friday, November 10th, 2023, the funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Anglican Church in Keesi, Itoko, Abeokuta, starting at 10 a.m.

     This service will allow the community to come together to celebrate Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Durojaiye’s contributions to their society. 

    Her legacy as a grassroot mobilizer and women’s leader has left an indelible mark on Abeokuta and its people.

    After the church service, a reception will be hosted at the Legacy Hall, Sports Club, Abeokuta, providing an opportunity for attendees to share their memories and reflect on the life and achievements of Iya Londo.

     The reception will follow immediately after the church service.

    Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Durojaiye is survived by her loving children, cherished grandchildren, devoted family members, and numerous political associates who were inspired and guided by her leadership over the years.

     Her passing is deeply mourned by the community, and her memory will continue to serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.

    The people of Abeokuta and beyond are expected to turn out in large numbers to celebrate the life and legacy of this remarkable woman who dedicated herself to the betterment of her community.

     Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Durojaiye’s impact on grassroots politics and women’s organizations has left an enduring mark that will be remembered for generations to come.
