    Abiodun ‘s Silence Over Upgrade Of FPI Shocks Stakeholders

    Some critical stakeholders in Ogun state have expressed shock over the silence of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun on the upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic Ilato, to University by the Federal Government .

    Tinubu signed into law the bill establishing the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, thereby upgrading the 46-year-old polytechnic to a full-fledged university.

    This was announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday.

    The bill, which was sponsored by the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Olamilekan Adeola, passed its third reading in October 2024.

    PLATFORM TIMES reports that since the president assented to the bill, many stakeholders include Minister of state of health ,Dr. Izhaq Salako, the Eselu of Iseluland, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, the Aboro of Ibeseland in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Rotimi Mulero among others have expressed joy and lauded the president ,Bola Tinubu and the Senator Adeola for his sponsorship of the bill .

    But, five days after the news filtered into the state, the state government had yet to either thank the president or the Senator for facilitating the bill .

    Some stakeholders who pleaded anonymity described the silence of the governor on the good news as insensitive .

    While some believes the political wrangling between the governor , Dapo Abiodun a d Senator Yayi ,popularly called Yayi might have been responsible .

    It was also observed that the political fight between the duo who had were worked together ahead of the previous elections .

    Senator Yayi was said to have been working tirelessly to succeed the governor after 2027 election was said to have fallen off the camp of Abiodun.

    Some scenarios were presented where the bickering between Abiodun and Adeola gradually manifesting was the formal  opening of National Sports Festival where Abiodun ignored the senator during protocol despite his presence .
