Ado Crisis Resolved : Miners Extend Apology To Ogun Monarch, Pledge Improved Relations

The Association of Miners in the Ado Odo Ota area of Ogun  State  has  issued a formal apology to the traditional ruler  of Ado Odo Ota, Oba Olushola Adebowale, for the distress caused by their operations. 

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the association had made a publication that attacked the monarch .

A meeting was however,  convened at the palace of  the Oba on Tuesday, where   representatives of the mining community expressed remorse for their actions and pledged to foster better relations with the royal kingdom.

The Managing Director and CEO of Glowton Oil Service,  Alade Mutiu Olanrewaju acting as a spokesperson for the miners, acknowledged the oversight in failing to seek proper permission and adhere to established protocols before conducting mining activities within the territory.

 He recognized the significance of maintaining amicable relations with neighbouring communities and committed to rectifying the situation through transparent communication and cooperation with the monarch and his representatives.

Accepting the apologies, Oba  Adebowale stressed  the importance of public acknowledgment of wrongs and urged the miners to publish their apology in national newspapers. 

Representatives from the Federal Mines and Steel in  Ogun State, Engr. Fumbi Ayelabola and Mr. Matthew Oshiman, echoed the sentiments of remorse and extended apologies to the monarch on behalf of the miners. 

Emphasizing the necessity of Community Development Agreements and legal licenses for mining operations, they advocated  stringent measures against those operating without proper documentation.

A lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta who is an expert in peace and conflict resolution, Dr. Mrs.Tope  Olaifa addressed concerns regarding safety and environmental impact.

She stressed the importance of adherence to community rules and federal regulations to ensure harmonious coexistence between miners and local residents.
