The alumni association of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, has donated a Sienna bus worth millions of naira to support the operations of the institution.

The gesture, aimed at easing the movement of the university’s principal officers, was unveiled during the university’s 16th convocation ceremonies and Alumni Lecture held on Wednesday at the Folorunsho Alakija Law Faculty.

Speaking at the event, the National President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, highlighted the association’s commitment to supporting the institution through various initiatives.

Ogunlade, who also serves as the chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), reiterated the alumni’s dedication to advancing the university’s infrastructure and academic excellence.

“We recognize that the university cannot meet all its needs alone,” Ogunlade said.

“To ensure the continued delivery of quality education, it is imperative for alumni, both at home and abroad, to contribute meaningfully to the institution’s growth.”

The association has a track record of support for the university, including the recent procurement of computers for the Transcripts Department to facilitate efficient service delivery for graduates worldwide.

Ogunlade also announced plans to launch an alumni website in December 2024, which he said would foster stronger connections among former students.

During the event, the association presented awards to select university staff in recognition of their long service and dedication.

Ogunlade expressed optimism for the university’s future, praying for greater strides and continued success for its graduates.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Professor Timothy Adebayo, expressed gratitude to the alumni for their consistent support.

“We are grateful to the university’s alumni for purchasing this bus,” Adebayo said. “It is timely, and we appreciate it. The alumni have been a reliable partner in our progress.”

The vice-chancellor also outlined the university’s achievements over the past year, including collaborations with various institutions that have enhanced academic stability, accreditation processes, and infrastructural development.

The association’s delegation, which included the National Secretary, Yemisi Peters, among others, called on all alumni to join efforts in advancing the university’s vision.

Ogunlade urged alumni worldwide to unite towards making impactful contributions, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in achieving the institution’s goals.
