ANA Ogun Urges  Government To Immortalize Jimi Solanke’s Legacy

In a resounding call for the preservation of cultural heritage, the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Ogun State Chapter, has appealed to the Ogun State Government to designate Jimi Solanke’s “Ibudo Asa” in Ipara Remo as a cherished cultural heritage site.

A statement signed by Public Relations Officer, ANA Ogun, Dare Folarin said the association during its  monthly meeting at the Simeon Adebo Library in Abeokuta,  emphasized the significance of icons like Chief Jimi Solanke.

The body  highlights  the potential cultural enrichment and boost to tourism that his works, songs, and paintings could bring to the State.

Expressing concern over the diminishing ranks of creative minds shaping the youth’s perspectives due to mortality, ANA  stressed the need for deliberate efforts in producing literature and music tailored for the moral upliftment and upbringing of young individuals.

In an interview, Dr. Chris Omotosho, the Chairman of ANA Ogun, extended condolences to the Ogun State Government, citizens, the Solanke family, and the literary community, recognizing the profound impact of the late folklorist, poet, dramatist, and playwright, affectionately known as “Baba agba,” who passed away recently at the age of 82.
