The Badarawa/Malali Ward executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna North LGA of Kaduna State has suspended the State’s APC Woman Leader, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, also known as ‘Mai Rusau’.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the action follows her criticism of the state governor, Senator Uba Sani.
Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, a staunch supporter of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, took to social media to express her disapproval of Governor Uba Sani’s revelation about the debt inherited from El-Rufai’s administration.
Governor Sani had disclosed a staggering debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and N115 billion in contractual liabilities, attributing it to the previous administration.
Reacting to Governor Sani’s statements, Bashir El-Rufai, son of the former governor, criticized the current administration, accusing Governor Uba Sani of incompetence and relying on excuses for poor performance.
However, in response to Hajiya Maryam Suleiman’s public criticism, the APC Badarawa/Malali Ward executive committee issued a letter of suspension citing her unauthorized publicity of the party’s internal disputes and defamation of Governor Uba Sani’s character.
The letter outlined the grounds for her suspension, emphasizing violations of the party’s constitution.
Confirming the suspension, Kaduna State APC Secretary, Yahaya Pate, informed journalists that Hajiya Maryam Suleiman has been suspended from her position as the state’s woman leader by her Badarawa/Malali ward.
