Babcock University Alumni Association (BUAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Education Advancement Support Services (EASS) to develop an online platform aimed at enhancing alumni engagement and fundraising for the university.
The agreement outlines that EASS will create and manage the online platform, Konnect, which will facilitate data importation, web front-end customization, and administration for BUAA.
During the MoU signing ceremony, attended by university principal officers and officials from BUAA and EASS, Babcock University’s President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo, expressed confidence in the mutual benefits of the partnership.
He emphasized the importance of EASS reaching out to alumni before seeking their engagement.
Professor Tayo highlighted that EASS would leverage alumni networks to secure funds, earning a percentage based on their success.
“If you do it well, you will get much, and if you do little, you will also get little,” he advised.
BUAA National President, Dr. Adeoti Tayo, stated that the MoU allows the partner to utilize its extensive platform to engage alumni and donors globally.
He emphasised the need for alumni to give back to their alma mater, shifting the burden of funding from the institution to its graduates, similar to practices in developed countries.
EASS CEO, Tunde Ijyemi, explained that Konnect would facilitate easy fundraising and engagement with alumni and donors.
“We have just entered into a partnership with Babcock Alumni to engage alumni wherever they are in the world,” he said.
Ijyemi noted that EASS has over 15 years of experience in this field, working with institutions such as the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, and Yaba College of Technology.
This strategic partnership aims to strengthen Babcock University’s funding capabilities through enhanced alumni participation and support.
