The Bauchi Police Command has taken into custody 18-year-old Khadija Adamu following allegations of her involvement in the tragic death of her 5-year-old stepdaughter, Hafsat.

This distressing incident came to light on September 28, 2023, in the Kandahar area of Bauchi metropolis, plunging the community into sorrow and disbelief.

The suspect was brought to justice after her husband, 38-year-old Abdulaziz Adamu, reported the incident to the authorities.

The alleged cause of the fatal beating was a dispute over soiled clothing.

A rapid response by a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), brought them to the scene of the tragedy.

They urgently transported the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.

Unfortunately, medical professionals at the hospital certified the child’s death.

Khadija Adamu, during questioning, purportedly admitted to her involvement in the tragic event.

Authorities are now conducting further investigations to unveil the complete details surrounding this heart-wrenching incident.
