In a grand display of benevolence, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, the  Olu Itori of Ewekoro in Ogun state, has embarked on a noble mission to mark his two-decade reign by reaching out to the vulnerable in his community.

The royal monarch, during a press conference held at his palace on Tuesday, unveiled a comprehensive plan to bring joy and relief to the lives of those facing adversity in Itori.

As part of the anniversary festivities, Oba Akamo announced the distribution of not less than 50 bags of essential staples, including rice, beans, and garri, to approximately 250 vulnerable households within Itori.

This heartfelt gesture is a testament to the monarch’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of his people in the face of challenging times.

Moreover, Oba Akamo expressed his dedication to empowering the youth within the community.

In a move to support local youths, the monarch revealed plans to donate three motorcycles, providing an avenue for economic empowerment and skill development.

The royal benevolence extends beyond the boundaries of Itori, with Oba Akamo outlining a visit to the Stella Obasanjo Orphanage Home and Juvenile home in Abeokuta.

The monarch pledged donations of electrical items, aimed at enhancing the standard of living for the residents of these institutions.

In a bid to address healthcare needs, Oba Akamo announced a free eye test initiative for 500 residents, complete with the provision of eyeglasses and essential medications.

This health-centric approach underscores the monarch’s commitment to the overall well-being of his community.

The celebration will culminate in the distribution of 250 solar lights on February 28, 2024, illuminating the Itori community and symbolizing hope and progress.

The event promises entertainment with Dr. Saheed Osupa taking the stage to captivate and delight guests.

Amidst the festivities, Oba Akamo took a moment to address the economic challenges facing the nation.

While acknowledging the hardship experienced by Nigerians, he urged understanding and shed light on President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to navigate a challenging economic landscape.

Commending President Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy as a bold step, the royal father expressed concern about the impact of inflation on local commodities.

He emphasized the need for collective responsibility, urging Nigerians to foster an environment where the common masses could thrive.

“I want to see smiles on the face of my people. I don’t like them suffering. So, my 20 years on the throne celebration calls for enlightenment and giving back to humanity,” Oba Akamo stated, encapsulating the essence of his celebratory initiatives.

As the monarch’s generosity touches the lives of many, the 20th-anniversary celebration becomes a beacon of hope, compassion, and community unity in Itori.
