In a shocking turn of events, the Magistrate’s court in Jos has decided to revoke the bail previously granted to Dr. Noah Kekere, a suspected organ harvester.
The decision comes after controversy surrounded the circumstances of the initial bail granted to Kekere, who stands accused of harvesting a kidney from one of his patients.
Kekere, who operates the Murna and Maternity clinic in Jos, had been arrested by the police on charges of illegally harvesting the kidney of Mrs. Kehinde Kamal in 2018.
Mrs. Kamal had visited his clinic for an unrelated procedure and only discovered the shocking truth after years of health issues, leading her to Jos University Teaching Hospital.
After a thorough investigation by the police, the case was handed over to the Plateau State Ministry of Justice for prosecution, and Kekere was remanded in prison custody.
However, the controversy arose when it was revealed that the court granted bail to the suspect despite both the police and the Ministry of Justice having no prior knowledge of the scheduled court appearance.
The application for Kekere’s bail had been filed at the Plateau State High Court of Justice, but the court bailiff was allegedly told that the case file had been transferred to the Ministry of Justice.
Unfortunately, the bailiff failed to serve the ministry with the necessary documents, despite recording the transfer information.
This critical oversight led to questions about the Magistrate’s decision to grant bail to the suspect, as the case file contained all the requisite legal processes. Consequently, the bail granted to Dr. Noah Kekere was revoked, and he remains in custody.
As of now, no date has been fixed for the mention of the case, leaving many anxious about the legal proceedings surrounding this unsettling case of alleged organ harvesting.
