In a heartening display of philanthropy, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has extended a lifeline to vulnerable individuals in Lagos State by donating 80,000 bags of 10kg rice to alleviate hardship amidst prevailing economic challenges.

The distribution of the rice, a part of the foundation’s larger initiative, commenced at the State House in Ikeja, Lagos, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Chairman of the foundation, Aliko Dangote, among others, gracing the event.

Mr. Dangote emphasized that the gesture was a testament to the foundation’s commitment to uphold compassion and solidarity, fundamental values crucial for humanity’s welfare.

Additionally, he highlighted the foundation’s daily distribution of 12,500 loaves of bread in Lagos, aimed at further alleviating burdens faced by vulnerable communities across the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Mr. Dangote for his numerous initiatives aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of Nigerians, lauding him for prioritizing the welfare of the people over profit accumulation.

He urged other affluent Nigerians to emulate Dangote’s philanthropic spirit, emphasizing the crucial role such interventions play in addressing economic hardships.

Explaining the rationale behind the food intervention, Mr. Dangote stated that while traditionally focused on the Muslim community during Ramadan, the prevailing high food prices necessitated broadening the initiative to cover communities of all faiths across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Zouera Youssoufou, CEO of the ADF, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to empowering Africans to achieve their full potential, regardless of their circumstances.

She underscored the importance of standing together as one nation, extending a helping hand to those in need, particularly during times of hardship.

Fatima Aliko-Dangote, Group Executive Director Commercial Operations at Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), highlighted the extensive reach of the intervention, targeting all 774 local government areas in Nigeria.

She emphasized the foundation’s longstanding commitment to various initiatives aimed at uplifting communities, including women empowerment programs and daily bread distribution.

Mr. Dangote also underscored Lagos State’s significance to the Dangote Group, hosting major investments such as the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Dangote Fertiliser Plant.

He further revealed the Group’s efforts towards promoting food fortification and improving nutrition nationwide.
