The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has said that Evacuation process for Nigerians in Egypt will begin after the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The NiDCOM made this known in a Twitter post on Monday stating that the Egyptian government has opened its border to Nigerians fleeing Sudan.
The post reads: “With the intervention of President Buhari, Egypt has finally opened its border to Nigerians fleeing Sudan. With an Airforce plane already on the ground in Aswan, Egypt, the processing of the first set of evacuees will begin.”
Evacuation buses conveying stranded Nigerians from the war-torn country had started arriving in Aswan, Egypt on 26th of April, but they were denied entrance to the border on arrival.
However, it was gathered that the Egyptian government insisted on visas, adding that the Nigerian mission in Egypt was working to rectify the issue.
