Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun.
Anthony, popularly known as Niyi, died in Lagos on Wednesday at the age of 62, according to a statement issued by the Adeosun family.
The statement, signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, announced that he passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Describing the deceased as a respected businessman and committed Christian, the family said he lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, hard work and unwavering devotion to God, his family and the community.
“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.
The family added that the late businessman touched many lives through his steadfast faith and commitment to service.
“He was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement added.
Quoting the Bible, the family said it remained comforted by God’s promises as it mourned what it described as an irreplaceable loss.
It noted that funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced later.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children, and siblings, including Kuramo Capital founder, Adewale Adeosun.
The family expressed appreciation to friends, associates and well-wishers for their prayers, condolences and support, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
