Amidst growing concerns over insecurity in Nigeria, a purported terrorists’ camp was reported to have  been uncovered  in Obada-Oko, Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State .

Reports indicate that the camp was allegedly operated by a group of Hausa individuals who harboured foreign nationals from Cameroon, Niger, and Togo.

According to investigations conducted by PLATFORM TIMES, the foreign nationals were clandestinely brought into Nigeria through the Nigerian border, smuggled via roads, and subsequently settled in Ogun State.

Sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that these individuals were promised Canadian visas, only to be deceived and transported to the camp in Obada-Oko, Abeokuta.

The modus operandi of the operators involved seizing the phones of the foreigners, assuming control of communication with their families back home.

However, the timely intervention of law enforcement led to the apprehension of the suspects in their hideout.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State,Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, dispelling rumours of terrorists involvement.

She clarified that the arrested individuals were unsuspecting Togolese nationals who had been misled with promises of immigration to Canada.

She added that based on preliminary investigations, they were not deemed to be terrorists or criminally inclined.

She said the Commissioner of Police has been briefed, and has instructed that the suspects be handed over to the Immigration Service on Monday.

She said “CP had been briefed, and has since directed that  they be brought on Monday to be handed over to Immigration service.

“They are unsuspecting Togolese promised to be taken to Canada. They are not terrorists nor criminally minded based on preliminary investigation.

“The mastermind is gathered to be in Jail presently in Togo, please.”
