FCT High Court Declares Governor Ododo’s Affidavit Fake In Kogi Election Tribunal

Supporters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its gubernatorial candidate, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, erupted in jubilation as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court representative at the Kogi Election Tribunal revealed that Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s affidavit was fraudulent and not issued by the court.

The tribunal, amidst the electoral dispute stemming from the November 11, 2023 Kogi election, witnessed Ajaka’s lawsuit against Ododo for alleged certificate forgery, seeking to invalidate his election victory.

Ajaka had vehemently contested the authenticity of Ododo’s age declaration, asserting it was issued on a non-working day, Saturday, August 2, 2003.

The revelation surfaced in 2023 when a concerned citizen brought the matter to public attention.

At the recent tribunal session, the FCT High Court witness, identified as Danmusa Williams, testified to validate the certificate’s status.

Williams, a civil servant residing in Nyanya, FCT, and the Commissioner for Oath, confirmed the irregularities surrounding the affidavit.

Under cross-examination, Williams affirmed that the date on the affidavit fell on a Sunday, prompting him to report the anomaly to the court registrar.

In a parallel development, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine uncovered discrepancies in BVAS records, particularly in Okene, Okehi, Adavi, and segments of Ajaokuta and Lokoja, adding a new layer of complexity to the ongoing electoral dispute.
