First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has vehemently advocated capital punishment for individuals found guilty of abducting young people.
Expressing her concern, she particularly cited recent reports of 200 women being kidnapped in Borno State and over 280 pupils and teachers abducted in Kaduna State.
Branding the kidnappers as “cowards” and “evil perpetrators,” Mrs. Tinubu condemned their actions and urged state governors to address the issue urgently.
She stressed the need for a decisive solution and insisted that anyone apprehended for such heinous crimes should face capital punishment.
The first lady stated this in response to the alarming surge in kidnappings in many parts of the country.
Addressing the media, the First Lady stated, “Whoever is kidnapping young people is sick, cruel, and a coward.
“Enough is enough, and I call on the state governors that once we take hold of them, they deserve capital punishment.”
Expressing her concern for the future and the impact on families, Mrs. Tinubu questioned the motives behind targeting innocent children.
She emphasized the importance of safeguarding the nation’s youth, asserting, “What they are trying to do is kill our future.”
As a former lawmaker, Mrs. Tinubu stressed her belief that individuals involved in kidnapping deserved capital punishment, labeling them as “animals” and asserting that they should be removed from society.
She urged both state governors and lawmakers to take decisive action in addressing the escalating crisis of abductions in the country.Enough is enough, and I call on the state governors that once we take hold of them, they deserve capital punishment.”
