An Owerri magistrate court, presided over by Barr Uche Stella Chukwu, has handed down prison sentences to four men who pleaded guilty to the heinous crime of sodomizing three young adults in Imo State.
Chibuzor Peter, aged 37, was accused of engaging in unlawful carnal knowledge of three boys, aged 18 and 19 years, through the use of force, threats, and intimidation.
He has been sentenced to seven years in prison for conspiring with three others, namely Sunday, Chimezie, and Oparaugo, to forcibly sodomize these three young men.
The magistrate determined that their actions constituted an offence contrary to unnatural offense, in violation of section 516 of the criminal code.
Furthermore, they were sentenced to seven years for the violation of section 214 of the criminal code of the state, to which they all pleaded guilty.
However, in the case of Chibuzor Peter, he received a sentence of 14 years in jail, while his accomplices were sentenced to seven years each, with an option to pay a fine of N500,000.
The magistrate ruled that the sentences should run concurrently, and all four individuals have been transferred to the Owerri Correctional Centre.
This judgment reflects the commitment of the court to uphold justice and protect the rights of the victims.
