Details have emerged of how former Kwara State lawmaker Christopher Ayeni perished in a fatal auto crash on Thursday along the Ajasse-Ipo highway.

According to a statement by the Kwara State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Ilorin on Thursday, the accident occurred at about 10:10 am. The corps responded within 15 minutes, arriving at the scene of the accident at 10: 25 am, about 500 metres away from Igbaja Junction.

FRSC identified the vehicles involved as a grey-coloured commercial truck with registered No. T-17488LA and a white-coloured Toyota Hilux pickup vehicle.

Five persons, comprising three males and two females, all injured, were involved in the accident reportedly caused by overspeeding.

Items recovered included two Android phones, now with the federal road safety and two other bags with the Ajase police division.

The injured victims were taken to the Ajase Cottage Hospital for medical treatment, the statement added.
