Ganduje Fights Back As Court Puts Suspension On Hold

A Federal High Court in Kano has issued an ex parte order restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) from suspending Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as a member and national chairman of the ruling party.

The court order, with suit number FHC/KN/CS/122/2024, was issued by Justice A.M. Liman.

It mandates all parties to maintain the status quo ante before the alleged emergency meeting of the APC Ganduje Ward’s executive members.

The court further directed a halt to all actions regarding the matter pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application.

The order, signed on April 17th, 2024, is set to be heard on April 30.

The applicant in the suit is Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, while the respondents include Haladu Gwanjo, Malami Mai AC, Muhammadu Baiti, Danmalam Gale, Musa Lado, Laminu Sani Barguma, Umar Sanda, Auwalu Galadima, Abubakar Dauda, as well as the Nigeria Police Force, Commissioner of Police (Kano Command), Inspector General of Police, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The court order also restrains all parties from implementing any decision reached during the alleged emergency meeting of the APC Ganduje Ward executive members, held on April 15, 2024, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application for the enforcement of Ganduje’s fundamental rights.

This development comes after some APC members in Ganduje ward announced Ganduje’s suspension at a press conference, citing corruption allegations leveled against him by the Kano State Government.

However, the State Working Committee of the APC swiftly sanctioned the Ganduje ward executives, declaring their suspension invalid, null, and void.

Meanwhile, a Kano State High Court, on Wednesday, granted an order restraining Ganduje from parading himself as a party member.

Justice Usman Na’aaba granted an exparte order restraining Abdullahi Ganduje from parading himself as National Chairman of APC and adjourned the matter to April 30th, 2024.
