In a stark warning, a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party and a concerned citizen, Otunba Segun Showunmi has emphasized the pressing need to restructure the nation’s policing framework, saying,  the current situation is spiraling out of control.

Expressing worry over potential vigilantism arising from delayed action, Showunmi condemned the dangerous trend of ethnically profiling crimes, asserting that crimes should be called what they are without resorting to tribal labels.

Showunmi urged subnational security vote beneficiaries to recognize the nation’s descent into a precarious state, emphasizing the imperative for a comprehensive security framework to safeguard the people and maintain peaceful coexistence.

Addressing the recent disturbing killings of traditional rulers in Ekiti, Showunmi condemned the perpetrators, attributing their actions to a lack of cultural values.

He called for a thorough investigation and accountability for all remotely connected to the incident.

Condemning any attempt to destabilize the state as a means of undermining the government, Showunmi emphasized that no highly-placed personality should be exempted  from responsibility when it comes to addressing the ongoing insecurity crisis.

Directing a plea to the president, Showunmi urged openness to available resources for asserting firm authority.

He called on Intelligence Agencies to urgently profile individuals linked to the ongoing insecurity and emphasized the need to target the sponsors behind this destructive agenda.

Showunmi dismissed the notion of merely throwing money at the security issue, stressing the importance of dismantling the sponsors behind the unrest.

He affirmed the collective duty to ensure the safety and protection of every citizen, concluding with a call for President Bola Tinubu to fulfill his primary duty.

In closing, Showunmi extended condolences to the departed souls, urging collective efforts to restore peace and security in the nation.

The statement read “ To those with responsibility to safeguard our people, that is governors, the earlier you come up with a comprehensive framework to secure our land, her people and those who live peacefully there the better.

“The conspiracy of state destabilization as a tool of undermining the government will not be tolerated.

“There is no such thing as a highly highly-placed personality in my book when it comes to killing people, those who speak the language of those involved in this madness should call them to order immediately.

“As for the president, it is time to open up to the enormous capacity that is available to stamp firm authority in this situation.

“Intelligence Agencies are encouraged to profile all those who could be remotely connected with this unending, blood-draining insecurity with a matter of urgency.

“Throwing money at it under security spending is not enough, it is time to bring down the sponsors of this demonic agenda.

“No one will allow any group under any guise to put the nation in disarray, as we owe it a duty to ensure that every inch of our country is save and every person in our country feels secured and protected. President Bola Tinubu (GCFR) do your primost duty.”
