LASTMA Apprehends Three ‘One Chance’ Robbers, Recovers Vehicle In Lagos

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) successfully apprehended three notorious ‘one chance’ armed robbers operating around the Abule-Egba area of Lagos on Thursday.

The suspects were pursued by alert residents who observed a man being forcibly ejected from their operational vehicle after being robbed of valuables.

According to a press release from Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, the suspects were captured alongside their operational vehicle, a painted ‘T4’ commercial bus (APP 406 YE), at the U-turn area of Abule-Egba.

One of the robbers managed to escape with a Point On Sale (POS) machine before the arrival of the police.

Preliminary investigations disclosed that the apprehended individuals were notorious ‘one-chance’ armed robbers known for terrorising Abule-Egba and its environs.

The suspects, attempting to evade public pursuit, drove recklessly until they were intercepted by LASTMA officials managing traffic around the Abule-Egba axis.

The two captured suspects were subsequently handed over to the police at the ‘Ile-Epo’ Police Division for further investigation.

Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan, the General Manager of LASTMA, urged the public, especially commuters, to exercise vigilance and avoid boarding commercial buses by the roadside, locally known as ‘So-le.’

In a related incident, SaharaReporters had previously highlighted in November 2023 that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command arrested five suspected “One Chance Robbers” in Abuja.

The operatives successfully apprehended the suspects after they allegedly stole over N1.2 million from their victims.
