Masked Terrorists in Hijabs Abduct 25 In Katsina Raid

Terrorists dressed in hijab, also known as abaya, launched an attack on the Runka community in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The attack, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, resulted in the abduction of 25 individuals, primarily women and children.

The Runka community is situated near the infamous Rugu Forest, a notorious hideout for terrorists and bandits.

According to a source from the community, the attackers, armed with guns, invaded the area and began firing shots indiscriminately, causing panic and chaos among residents.

“There were no fatalities reported among the community members, except for one person who sustained injuries while attempting to flee,” the source revealed. The injured individual has since been hospitalised.

During the raid, the terrorists systematically entered homes, forcefully taking residents and ransacking properties.

Eyewitnesses reported that one bandit was overheard speaking on the phone to an unknown informant, ominously stating, “Today, we’ve come to your hometown.”

The community was notably devoid of security forces at the time of the attack, raising concerns about the adequacy of protection in the area.

It was only after the terrorists had fled that an armored personnel carrier with police personnel was dispatched to patrol the community.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Safana Local Government Area, Abdullahi, noted that 22 persons were abducted, with some managing to escape.

Abdullahi added, “The DPO Safana has deployed and stationed his team alongside soldiers to the area and they have already commenced a rescue operation.”

As of the time of filing this report, the police authorities in Katsina State have not issued an official statement on the incident.

The absence of a timely response from security agencies continues to be a critical issue in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in the region.
