The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Ogun Area Unit, orchestrated a pivotal Stakeholder’s Conference, aimed at eradicating the persistent issue of examination malpractices in Nigeria’s education sector.

The conference, titled “Decimating the Scourge of Examination Malpractices in the Country: Roles of Stakeholders,” convened influential figures including the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, and representatives from JAMB, WAEC, NECO, among others.

During panel discussions moderated by Barr. Moshood Nosiru, participants emphasized the urgent need to reconstruct fundamental social values, starting from the home, asserting that instilling strong ethical principles can deter malpractices.

The stakeholders collectively called on governments to boost teacher morale as a proactive measure to safeguard examination integrity.

Professor Abayomi Arigbabu highlighted innovative measures adopted by the Ministry, including the OGSERA initiative to counter mass movements of students seeking miracle examination centers.

The trio of NECO, WAEC, and JAMB outlined strategies such as biometric data capture and blacklisting to combat malpractices, urging public vigilance.

The Chairman of the occasion, Professor Biliaminu Kareem, urged collective action against malpractice, emphasizing MEEM’s operational slogan, “Saying No to Cheating, and Yes to Integrity.” Ameer/President of MSSN, Mallam Abdulfatah Adigun, called for practical solutions to bid farewell to examination malpractice, envisioning MSSN as a vital force in combating societal malaise.

Professor Idris Ayinde, of the department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in his lecture, stressed the role of governments, organizations, and individuals in fostering a culture of credible grading and assessment, urging students to embrace hard work and integrity.

The event climaxed with the inauguration of the MEEM Executive Committee, led by Moshood Nosiru Esq., charged with the responsibility of upholding integrity in the nation’s education industry.

In a goodwill message, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akíntúndé of the Ogun State Muslim Council congratulated the organizers and provided recommendations for future enhancements, marking a pivotal step toward reshaping Nigeria’s education landscape.
