Nigerian Arms Control Centre Begins Mop Up Of Illegal Firearms, Prosecution

The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, has announced that  it is mopping up illegal firearms in the hands of unauthorised persons.

The centre also announced that it has  started the prosecution of arms traffickers in the country.

NCCSALW said  it is embarking on a mop-up exercise in a bid to enforce the law on illegal firearms in the hands of unauthorised persons.

The Zonal Director, South West, Sola Akinlade, disclosed this during an interview on Wednesday, adding that the centre has started the prosecution of arms traffickers in the country.

According to him, we are mopping up arms. Recently, the IG handed over some arms to us in Abuja.

“We have collected from the military in Bauchi and Kaduna too and we have started the structures.

“We have a distorting site at Kaduna inside the barrack and we are building our armoury.

“The construction of our armoury in South West is going on in Akure at the Owena continent.”

Akinlade noted that gender that were after this fabricators who are manufacturing either Danegun, double barrel, some are even manufacturing AK-47 as good as that of being used by the various security agency.

The center, however called on the public to be weary of any unauthorized organizations impersonating the center to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians especially youth by asking them to pay money for offer of employment as the center does not recruit.
