In a successful operation, troops from the 93 Battalion under the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army apprehended a suspected female kidnapper, Janet Igohia, aged 31, as she attempted to collect a ransom of N1.5 million for an abducted victim in Taraba.

The arrest took place following information received on January 25, 2024, about the activities of extremist groups and insurgents around Chanchanji and Sai communities.

The troops strategically positioned themselves in the suspected area, leading to the arrest of Igohia at approximately 10:00 am after she picked up the ransom.

According to Acting Assistant Director Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, Igohia disclosed that she is currently married to Voryor Gata, a notorious criminal and leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba.

Furthermore, she revealed her previous marriages to high-profile criminals, including Terkibi Gemaga (AKA Mopol) and Gana Terwase, both of whom were killed by troops in separate operations.

In a parallel operation, troops deployed at Mararaba Baissa community in Donga Local Government Area arrested two suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa (age 40) and Usman Isah (age 44).

The duo was allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling, with seized proceeds of 664,000 Naira and two Techno mobile phones.

Lieutenant Olubodunde emphasized the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens by dismantling criminal networks in Taraba State.

He urged the public to support the military and security agencies by providing credible and timely information on suspicious movements or criminal activities within the state.
