Nigerians have voiced their concerns over the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and its recent call for President Tinubu to reduce the N6.9 billion car budget or face potential legal action.
On Wednesday, SERAP used its Twitter platform to call on President Tinubu to promptly trim the extravagant N6.9 billion budget allocated for purchasing cars for the House House, First Lady’s Office, and the Presidential Villa, sparking a wave of reactions from netizens.
Many Nigerians expressed their skepticism about SERAP’s ability to effect change through legal channels. @IfeanyiGod questioned the organization’s impact, noting the prevailing sense of powerlessness among citizens due to past experiences, such as the unfortunate incidents of violence against protesters.
Similarly, @Chrisxian2 raised doubts about SERAP’s track record in the courts, implying that the organization may have a limited success rate in its legal battles.
@Gebemaxon213 seemed to mock SERAP’s call for legal action and questioned which court the organization intended to approach, with a series of laughing emojis.
Critics like @Gagadrills and @iamAkinalabi criticized SERAP for being perceived as ineffective and urged the organization to take more meaningful actions.
