Ogun State has been named the Best Overall Performing State in Digital Technology Development, a testament to its unwavering commitment to advancing the digital economy through collaborations with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals and startups.

The award, presented at the 12th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) in Makurdi, Benue State, highlights Ogun’s leadership in digital transformation under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.

The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, who presented the award, lauded Governor Abiodun’s visionary approach to digitalization and tech entrepreneurship.

He described the achievement as a reflection of the state’s dedication to leveraging ICT for socioeconomic development and called for enhanced partnerships between ICT professionals and governments to propel Nigeria to the forefront of global digital innovation.

Ogun State has a history of accolades in the ICT sector, including the Most Digitally Compliant State in 2023 by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Best State in e-Governance Implementation by the National Council on Communications & Digital Economy (NCCDE).

Receiving the award on behalf of the state, the Special Adviser on ICT, Dayo Abiodun, attributed the recognition to the digital initiatives championed by Governor Abiodun, which include various training programs aimed at equipping youths with ICT skills.

Represented by a Program Analyst from the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), Ridwan Odufowora, Abiodun expressed gratitude for the honor and pledged the state’s continued commitment to exploring emerging digital innovations to foster development.

The NCCIDE annual meeting, which serves as a platform for states to strategize on advancements in communications and digital economy, brought together representatives from across the federation to showcase their achievements and share ideas for growth in the sector.
