The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially allocated 1,191 hajj seats to Ogun State in preparation for the 2024 hajj pilgrimage.
This significant announcement was made by Alhaji Salau Babatunde, the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, during a press conference held in Abeokuta.
The allocation of these hajj slots will be conducted on a “first come, first served” basis, ensuring fairness and transparency in the selection process.
Alhaji Salau Babatunde also revealed that NAHCON has determined an initial hajj deposit of four million five hundred thousand naira (₦4,500,000.00) for prospective pilgrims, pending the final fare announcement.
Prospective pilgrims have been provided with multiple options for making the initial deposit.
They can choose to pay via bank draft or directly through bank tellers, which are available at the Board and can be deposited into designated bank accounts.
Additionally, individuals who have already made deposits for the 2023 hajj are encouraged to top up their payments to meet the current initial hajj deposit requirements.
Alhaji Babatunde assured the public that all necessary preparations are being made to ensure a seamless and trouble-free Hajj exercise.
He expressed the readiness of the State government to support the spiritual journey, as it has done in the past, to make it a memorable and fulfilling experience for all pilgrims.
Furthermore, Alhaji Babatunde advised intending pilgrims to expedite their payment of the initial hajj deposit, as the visa issuance process has undergone changes.
Visa issuance is now expected to be completed at least 50 days before the Arafat day, according to Saudi Arabia’s regulations.
