Osun APC, Govt. Clash Over Missing 1,250 Bags Of Presidential Christmas Rice

Tensions has  risen  in Osun State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenges Governor Ademola Adeleke to reveal the whereabouts of 1,250 bags of rice purportedly sent by President Bola Tinubu for Christmas and New Year celebrations at the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

The Osun APC alleges that the rice meant for CAN was misappropriated by the state government, prompting calls for an investigation and the return of the rice to its rightful recipients.

APC State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, condemns the supposed diversion, emphasising the government’s responsibility to support religious bodies, not deprive them of their entitlements.

Lawal insists that the APC will not relent until the issue is resolved, referencing a past incident where the governor allegedly hoarded and diverted rice donated by the Federal Government.

He challenges Governor Adeleke and his handlers to produce the stolen rice for CAN in Osun State.

In response, the Osun State Government denies the allegations, stating that no rice palliatives have been received from the Federal Government for distribution.

Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, calls the report false, emphasising the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

The government challenges those spreading fake news to substantiate their claims.

Meanwhile, the Osun CAN Chairman, Rev. John Adeleke, acknowledges awareness of the Federal Government sending rice to CAN across the nation but notes that Osun State is yet to receive its allocation.

He expresses uncertainty about the delay and pledges to confirm the status at the National meeting of CAN.

Discrepancies arise between the APC and PDP regarding the number of bags of rice expected for delivery to the Christian body, adding complexity to the unfolding situation.
