The Nigerian Police in Niger State have arrested a motor boy, Abdullahi Basiru, for his role in diverting 900 bags of cement meant for Maiduguri, Borno State.
The police said the arrest occurred on April 5, 2025, when a surveillance team from Bosso Division intercepted a trailer truck at Garima Junction, Bosso, around 9:30 a.m.
The trailer, which had been loaded in Obajana, Kogi State, was diverted to Garima Bosso, where it was intended to be sold illegally.
Basiru, who confessed during questioning, revealed that he conspired with the driver, Ibrahim Yusuf, who remains at large, to hijack the truck and sell the cement.
Basiru was charged with criminal conspiracy and theft, and on April 9, 2025, he was sentenced to ten months in prison without the option of a fine.
Authorities are still pursuing Yusuf, and the cement truck has been returned to the company’s representative following a court order.
