Police Nab Two Suspected Thieves for Drugging Keke Rider, Stealing Tricycle in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspected thieves, Ado Yusuf, 40, and Rabi’u Suleiman, 35, for allegedly drugging a tricycle rider and making away with his vehicle in the Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Kiyawa revealed that two stolen tricycles were recovered during a coordinated intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts in the area.

According to the police, the suspects were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the tricycles during preliminary investigations.

One of the victims, identified as Mamman Musa, reported that he was drugged by the suspects before his tricycle, with registration number KGM 246VC, was stolen.

Musa was rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano for emergency treatment and later transferred to the Kano Reformatory Institute Kiru for further care. He has since been discharged.

The police confirmed that the recovered tricycle has been returned to its owner, who came forward to identify it after a press conference held by the Command on December 10, 2024.

“The victim identified one of the suspects as the individual who drugged him,” the police spokesperson said.

“The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter. The suspects will be charged to court for prosecution upon completion of the investigation.”

The Command also urged members of the public who have been victims of similar crimes, particularly those involving stolen tricycles, to report to the Police Public Relations Office at Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, or contact 07038874340 for possible identification and assistance.
