The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has withdrawn 30 inspectors and rank and file personnel previously assigned to various Very Important Personalities (VIPs)  ahead of the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the redeployment is part of a broader strategy to manage potential unrest and ensure public safety during the upcoming demonstrations.

A memo dated July 29, 2024, and signed by SP Anas Mohammed, S/O DOPS (Department of Operations, SHQ Owerri), with reference number AB: 4087/IMS/DOPS/SO/VOL.1/443, outlined the changes.

The memo directed the affected officers to report to the office by Thursday, August 1, 2024.

The memo emphasised the urgency and importance of this redeployment, noting that it was in direct response to the anticipated protests against bad governance.

The document detailed the reassignments, specifying that officers would be redeployed to various locations and duties, including APC chairman, Star Arrival, Fendoz, and Olisleek.

Further, the memo issued instructions under “SUB.2: Special Duty,” which mandated the officers to report in clean service dress until a stand-down order is given.

This directive underscores the seriousness with which the police force is approaching the upcoming protest, likely anticipating significant public engagement and possible unrest.

The comprehensive list of the withdrawn officers was sighted by PLATFORM TIMES.

PLATFORM TIMES observes that the NPF’s decision to recall officers from VIP duty reflects a strategic shift in focus towards maintaining order during the #EndBadGovernance protests.
