Renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Ibraheem Dende Egungbohun (IBD), has called upon government authorities to prioritize vocational and technical education to better equip Nigerian youths for global industrial challenges.

Speaking to journalists following his recognition with the Fellowship Award from Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, Alhaji Egungbohun emphasized the critical role of technical education in addressing youth unemployment and fostering self-reliance.

“Vocational and technical education provides essential entrepreneurial skills that empower youths to stand on their own feet,” Alhaji Egungbohun stated, stressing the necessity for government incentives to make these educational pathways more attractive to young Nigerians.

He applauded the Ogun State government’s efforts in revitalizing technical colleges across the state, underscoring the importance of practical skill acquisition alongside academic qualifications.

Highlighting the pivotal role of polytechnic education in technological advancement and economic growth, the business mogul urged increased investment in these institutions to ensure a more practical learning approach.

He further advocated for private sector involvement, encouraging corporate organizations to support initiatives such as OGITECH’s newly unveiled Electric Vehicle project.

Alhaji Egungbohun called on affluent individuals to adopt schools and contribute meaningfully to educational development, emphasizing that collective efforts are necessary to achieve substantial progress in Nigeria’s educational sector.
