The Oyo State Government has unveiled a car loan initiative exclusively aimed at primary school teachers across all regions within the state.

This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Friday by the Coordinating Director of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Jacob Dairo, adding that it is a response to the prevailing economic challenges in the nation.

According to Dairo, the primary objective behind this initiative is to provide a cushion against the economic hardships experienced by educators.

It was gathered that this loan, structured to be disbursed in multiple installments, has been designed to alleviate the adverse impacts of the economic turmoil on teachers.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State granted his approval for this loan scheme, as he emphasized that it must be executed without any form of bias.

Dairo therefore advised the recipients of this initiative to utilize the loan for its designated purpose.

According to the statement, the financial institutions handling the disbursement of this aid will allow beneficiaries to repay the loan within a span of 40 months.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology in the state, Professor Salihu Abdulwaheed, has affirmed the government’s commitment to collaboration with all stakeholders within the education sector.

During a visit to the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board Directorate on Thursday, Abdulwaheed assured that the government would progressively recruit additional teachers for the basic education sub-sector.

He further underlined the government’s dedication to comprehensive staff training to ensure overall success, echoing the sentiments expressed by Mr. Dairo.
