Sultan Of Sokoto Reveals Untold Contributions Of  Wigwe To Nigeria’s Unity, Progress

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has unveiled the hitherto undisclosed contributions of the late Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe to Nigeria’s unity and progress.

 The Sultan, also the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and son Herbert Jnr on February 9, 2024, in the United States.

In a condolence letter delivered by a high-powered delegation led by the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, the Sultan praised Wigwe’s patriotism, highlighting his role in fostering unity, progress, and peaceful co-existence among people of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.

 The letter, dated February 15, 2024, reached Elder Shyngle Wigwe, the father of the deceased and a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in Lagos on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Expressing solidarity with the grieving family, the Sultan acknowledged the profound loss not only to the immediate family but to the entire nation, the corporate world, and humanity at large. Recognizing Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe as an internationally recognized businessman and a philanthropist of high repute, the Sultan conveyed heartfelt condolences, urging the family to find strength in the belief that “God Giveth and God Taketh.”

The statement concluded with a prayer for divine fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
