The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) has announced its intention to confer honorary doctorate degrees on four distinguished Nigerians at its upcoming 16th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for November 2024.
The selected honourees, each recognized for their exceptional contributions to various sectors, will receive Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) degrees.
In a press release issued by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Oladapo Oke, the university noted that the awardees were chosen for their outstanding achievements and the profound impact they have had on society.

Prince Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi, a renowned entrepreneur and lawyer, will be awarded a D.Sc. in Entrepreneurship. Afolabi is the founder and CEO of SIFAX Group, a leading conglomerate with interests in maritime, aviation, oil and gas, financial services, hospitality, and more.
His exceptional leadership has propelled the company to the forefront of multiple industries, earning him recognition as one of Nigeria’s most influential business figures.
Prince (Dr.) Oluyemisi Adedoyin Shyllon, a noted art collector and advocate for Nigerian arts and culture, will be honoured with a D.Sc. in Creative Arts.
Shyllon, who holds degrees in engineering, law, and stockbroking, has made significant contributions to promoting Nigerian art on the global stage.
He is widely recognized as one of Africa’s leading art collectors, and his efforts have greatly enhanced the visibility of Nigerian arts and culture worldwide.
Otunba Wasiu Jayeola Taiwo, a trailblazer in Nigeria’s textile and fashion industry, will receive a D.Sc. in Clothing and Textiles.
As the founder of Wessy College of Arts and Technology and the National President of the Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN), Taiwo has been a key figure in elevating Nigeria’s fashion industry to international prominence.
His philanthropic efforts and leadership in the industry have cemented his reputation as a community icon.
Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi, a petroleum engineer and successful entrepreneur, will be awarded a D.Sc. in Hospitality Management.
Initially focused on the oil and gas sector, Sanusi has since diversified his ventures into education, agriculture, and hospitality, notably establishing Ilaji Hotels and Holiday Resorts.
His commitment to educational development is also reflected in his support for TASUED’s student leadership programmes and other university initiatives.
According to TASUED, the honorary degrees are a testament to the university’s commitment to recognizing excellence and inspiring future generations.
The institution lauded the awardees for their invaluable contributions to their respective fields, noting that their achievements align with the university’s values of innovation, leadership, and societal impact.
