A woman was rescued on Tuesday after reportedly jumping into the Lagos Lagoon from the Idumota section of Carter Bridge in Lagos.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, drawing the attention of commuters, pedestrians and boat operators around the bridge.
Eyewitnesses said the woman plunged into the lagoon before nearby boat operators swiftly raced to the scene and pulled her out of the water alive.
A video circulating on social media showed the woman, who appeared visibly distressed, sitting inside a rescue boat shortly after she was brought out of the lagoon.
The incident attracted a large crowd on the bridge, with some onlookers urging the rescuers not to immediately hand her over to the police.
Others were heard expressing concern over her emotional state while speculating on the circumstances that may have led to the incident.
As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the woman had yet to be established, while authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident or disclosed her current condition.
