Executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bukkuyum local government area of Zamfara State have sacked the party chairmy, Alhaji Sala Umar.

According to official letter sent to the party’s headquarters in Gusau, the leadership of the council had on 23rd September, 2024, passed a vote of no confidence on the party chairman, at a meeting attended by two-third of members.

The letter was signed by Nura Yusuf, Acting Secretary, Musa Muhammad, Legal Adviser and Salisu Adamu, Ward Chairman.

The council leadership said that the action was sequel to the chairman’s non-compliance with party guidelines, including failure to convene meetings, non-attendance of State Exco meeting, unilateral decision making and fostering disaffection and division among party members.

They also pinpointed the chairman’s inability to lead as a result of old age and poor health condition.

They said, “our action was in accordance with the party’s constitutional provision in section 59 (1) and (2)”.

The members elected Abubakar Maiwake, former Organising Secretary of the council, as the Acting party Chairman.

The letter appealed to the State Working Committee of the party to consider and affirm the decision done in the party’s interest.
